Faro de Orchilla and Baja Anacón

We will cross the island from end to end to explore the waters at the foot of the southernmost lighthouse in Europe, traversing dramatic landscapes where no boats are seen, only lava and the foam of the Atlantic reign. Diving in this area of the island is an advanced level, as currents from both sides of the point prevail, exerting an unparalleled magnetism for pelagic marine life. These currents carry nutrient-rich waters, attracting rocky reef fauna which in turn draw open water predators patrolling for food. No fishing occurs in these waters, so with a bit of luck and favorable conditions, dives reach another level. Schools of Mobulas (mantas) comb the area during their annual migration, taking advantage of their food flowing horizontally in the current, and like them, marine mammals (pilot whales, dolphins, beaked whales, and even rorquals) can be spotted on the surface when rounding Cape Orchilla.

Roques del Norte

At the opposite end of La Restinga, crowning the El Golfo bay formed by the sliding and collapse of this impressive volcanic caldera, these stunning rocks are found, with the largest known as Roque Salmor. There are not many days when we can sail there, but the journey is worth it. Impressive walls pounded by the waves brought by the Trade Winds have shaped these magnificent formations of volcanic rock, waters where fishing is rare due to its remote location. Taking advantage of calm days when the sea is still, we can explore the canyons that separate these rocks, and we will find one of the best-preserved and wildest macaronesian marine life ecosystems in the Canary Archipelago, no spoilers, experience it leaving behind expectations.
