Roque de Tacorón

Roque de Tacorón is located 15 minutes from the marine reserve of the Sea of Calms, to the west, and next to the natural pools of Tacorón. These pools were created by lava expelled from the adjacent volcanoes, which provided the perfect conditions for us to now enjoy several diving spots in their vicinity.

Features

The main feature of this dive is its basaltic rock, around 15 meters high, a refuge for different species and not completely submerged, allowing you to observe the incredible sight of two completely different worlds at once, LAND and SEA. But that's not the only thing you can enjoy here; we will traverse lava canyons that will accompany you to the seabed over 30 meters deep, where you can enjoy an unparalleled volcanic landscape. We will explore a vast sandy area that disappears into the unknown and head towards the rock through other canyons. We finish the dive in the shallower area, enjoying the light and the animals concentrated there.

Marine life

Marine life in this dive is very diverse. The rock concentrates many types of animals due to the light it receives being at shallow depths. You can see spiny pufferfish, groupers, jacks, sargos, salemas, triggerfish, wrasses, moray eels, crabs, shrimps, lobsters, anemones, and polyps, among others. The sandy area at 30 meters depth offers you the opportunity to see garden eels, rays, and large groupers vying for territory.

Conditions

The conditions at this dive site are usually very good and easily accessible as long as the ground swell does not make the area uncomfortable. The shelter provided by Tacorón and the Sea of Calms makes this dive, without current, one of the most used by dive centers due to its tranquility and visibility of over 30 meters in the best conditions.
